 Ancient Egyptians believed in life after death.They thought that people had a spirit as well as a body,and that for the person to live in the next world,the spirit has to reunited with the body.they therefore preserved the body of the person in the form of mummy.

The Egyptians placed the mummy inside the coffin or case,and put a cover on the top.By the time of the middle,Kingdom(c.2100-1550 BC),they used two coffins to give added protection from tomb robbers and animals.They decorated with images of gods,writing and sacred amulets.

• Making of mummy

The Egyptians first removed the organs,and dried out the body with natron.They filled body with sawdust or dry leaves,then wrapped body in bandages.
